DENVER (CBS4)- As the temperatures drop heating bills usually rise. Some people who need help paying them started applying for assistance on Thursday.
The Low Income Energy Assistance Program, or LEAP, is designed to help those who cannot pay their heating bill in the winter.
LEAP started handing out help Thursday morning and also offered advice on heating homes safely and efficiently.
The program also provides cash assistance to those who qualify.
“People can come down to Denver Human Services. They can pick up a LEAP application, apply for LEAP and learn about various weatherization services,” said Denver Human Services spokeswoman Jamie Bradley.
The LEAP program continues through April 30.
