DENVER (AP) – Colorado’s winter wheat harvest has finished about 5 percent lower than last year.
The National Agricultural Statistic Service said Friday that Colorado’s winter wheat production was nearly 73.8 million bushels for 2012, down from 78 million bushels last year.
While Colorado farmers harvested grain from more land this year, the average yield was only 34 bushels per acre, down from a yield of 39 bushels per acre last year.
