DENVER (CBS4)- This year’s selection for “One Book, One Denver” is a story about a Honduran boy who undergoes several hardships trying to reach his mother in the U.S.
“Enrique’s Journey” is based on a true story and written by a Colorado State University alumna Sonia Nazario. The book is based on her Pulitzer Prize winning series that Nazario wrote for the Los Angeles Times in 2002.
Deputy Mayor Cary Kennedy announced the selection on Tuesday.
Avid readers of the program shouldn’t have to wait too long to get their hands on a copy. The Denver Public Library has stocked 1,000 copies of the book including e-books and Spanish translations.
The “One Book, One Denver” program is meant to draw the community together through reading. Denver citizens, young and old, are encouraged to join others in the shared experience of simultaneously reading the same book and participating in related events. One Book, One Denver is brought to the community by the Arts & Venues Denver and a diverse group of partners including educational, arts and literary organizations throughout the city.
