DENVER (CBS4) – Labor Day marks the unofficial end to summer. Many offices, businesses and federal buildings were closed for the day. It’s also the last day of Colorado State Patrol’s “100 Days of Heat.”

The program kicks off on Memorial Day and aims to crackdown on drunk drivers.

Last year’s program saw more than 2,600 arrests. State Patrol says 185 people died in alcohol-related accidents. Of those 67 happened over Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends.

State Patrol says Colorado is on a similar track this year. Since the 100 Days of Heat campaign began Memorial Day Weekend there have been more than 2,000 DUI arrests in Colorado this year.
