DENVER (CBS4) – Point guard Ty Lawson has agreed to sign a contract extension with the Denver Nuggets.
Lawson, 24, confirmed the agreement on his Twitter account on Tuesday. The Nuggets were offering him a four-year, $48 million contract. He agreed to the extension just a day before the Oct. 31 deadline, preventing him from going to restricted free agency.
The Nuggets drafted Lawson after he was part of the North Carolina team that won the NCAA Championship in 2009. He has NBA career average of 12 points and 4.8 assists per game.
The Nuggets believe Lawson can become and elite player in the NBA.
